ANNUAL CONTESTS HUTT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL Despite threatening weather and high winds, the annual athletic sports of the Hutt Valley High School were held on Wednesday afternoon. The high wind prevented any records being broken, but some good performances were recorded, particularly in the 440 yards events. In the house events, Rishworth scored almost twice as many points as the runner-up, Baldwin. The points were: Rishworth 287, Baldwin 144, School 135, Kidson 110. The individual championships were decided as follows: senior boys, H. Potter (22), runner-up, D. Turner (17); intermediate boys, S. Jaeger (35), runner-up, W. Grant (10); junior boys, C. Carter (15), runnerup, K. Lockett (7); senior girls, June Hunter (15), runner-up, Barbara Moor (12); intermediate girls, Peggy Judd (20), runner-up, Aileen King (7); junior girls, Marie Pegler (18), runner-up, Shirley Cox (6). At the conclusion of the meeting, trophies won during the year for various sports were presented. Mr. J. N. Millard, headmaster of the school, introduced Mr. J. Stonehouse, who spoke on behalf of the Board of Governors. The trophies were presented by Mrs. Millard. Results: — CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS.
