HIGH SCHOOL.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS. Reporting to the Board of Governors of the Hutt Valley High School last Thursday evening", the principal, Mr. J. N. Millard, said the school roll now stood at 404—241 boys and l(i3 girls. The provision of extra accommodation for typing and for certain facilities for history teaching has been met by the Department. The work has been completed, and the typing room now allows of a little more icomfort. The new room for the book department allows much •more space than the old storage room. The history map rack has been put up, and Hie cabinet for maps and pictures is already in use. The Borough has accepted the tender of the Wellington City Council for the I supply of milk to the Hutt schools, and all pupils will have the opportunity of receiving a free ration of milk every morning. ..Strangely enough as many as 5u from -this school have notiiied that they will not accept the gift. The milk will be delivered in bottles at the school gate early in the mr.'iing. The New Education Fellowship Conference, which was held in Wellington in July, was very interesting awl. illuminating, and all those teachcrs who were fartunato enough to attend must have derived much good from the lectures. As a result the stall - is fired with enthusiasm and they are engaged in examining our own type of education in the light of the ideals set before them by the conference experts. The annual quadrangular Rugby tournament between the first fifteens of Dannevirke, Wairarapa and Hutt Valley High Schools and Scots College will take place at Lower Hutt on August 21 and 23. On August 21 Dannevirke plays Scots College and Hutt Valley plays Wairarapa.
