INDUCTION SERVICE.

NEW MINISTER GREETED

The induction service of the .Rev J. Thomson Macky, newly-appointed to the change of Knox Presfoyteriau rChurch, took place last week. The Rev. J. .Huhbard, Moderator of the Wellington Presbytery, -presided. .After a sermon by the Rev Mr. Martin, the induction of Mr Maoky took "place The Rev R. J. Howie then addressed I the newly-inducted minister, and tho Rev. Geo Hunt addressed the congregation, The service closed with the singing of teh 23rd Psalm. Those present then adjourned to Knox School room, where there were addresses of welcome. Mr Howie, in his welcoming speech, I compared the induction of Mr Macky | with a wedding ceremony, for at -that service, the minister and congregation became united. Mr. T. Waugh then welcomed Mr and Mrs Maoky on behaK v£ the congregation Mr Waugh e^prefcsed pleasure at the ■privilege that was his, and said the welcome of the congregation was full and wholehearted. Mr. Waugh stressed the «fa"ct that the congregation was as re'sipoiisihde as the "minister with regard to the church. . A welcoming message was received from the Rev J. MoOaiw , until"recently minister of 'Knox Church. Mr. A. D. Thompson tendered a (welcome to Mr and Mrs1 Ma'ciky-on behalf of the oflice-/bearers_of the churcli The sp'eaier assured Mr and Mrs Maoky of the loyal support of the church members . Rev. J. Husbbard tendered a warm welcome to. Mr Macky on behalf of the Presbytery. He stressde the need for reciprocity on the part of minister and congregation. The Rev. J. Lopdell then tendered a •welcome to Mr and.Mrs Macky on behalf of St "Stophen's C^hu-rch, and expressed the conviction that Knox and! St. 'Stephen's congregations would ever work in harmony. The Rev. H -Sharp, representing the Hdtt Ministers' Association then welcomed Mr and »Mrs .Macky on ibeharf df the ministers and churches of--'the district Mr Mjucky in ijeply, tha-ukecl those present for their welcome. Mr Maoky spoke .of the kindly welcome' given to himself and Mrs Macky on their arrival at ithe manse-(by the Ladies' Guild. Mr MaJcky expressed the belief that the lha*ppiness of his sojourn depended on the congregation as much as on him. ; ■ Ma'Cikj was presented :by Mw Whiteher with a colourful bouquet. Supper was then -dispensed toy the women of ithe congregation
