Mr. F. Carnie who has been closely associated with the youth woxk of St. Stephen's Chturc-h, is leaving the Hutt
to ,t«.ke up a position at Woodville. In the course of the evening service last Sunday, Rev. Lopdell referred to hi* departure and in the name of the office bears and congregation, wished him. God-speed and much blessing and prosperity in' his new sphere.
The Rev. J. E. Liopdell left on Mon- ! day evening for' Auckland to spend a fc^v days with his brother, Mr. P. C. j Lopdell M.A., vice principal of Auckland Training College.
Mrs J. E. Lbpdell is visiting her sister, Mrs J. S. Evans, of Nelson.
An informal and enjoyaible function took place recently in tie tea rooms at Karkealdie and Stains when a very pleasant tea party was given to Mrs. Isabel Halligan by '-her' elocution .pupils who were: competitors in the recent competitions. Miss Graeie Korr, winno i* of fchd Senior Elocution Schaflorsliipj presented Mrs. Halligan (on behalf of the pupils) with a handsome evening' bag. A dainty afternoon tea was served, the tables being gaily deeoTatcd with spring Rowel's- and foliage
