The Methodist Church, remarked Mr Goldsmith, had been opened in Levin in July, 1895, and at a similar gathering held last year those present had included four members who had been present at the opening. One of those, in the person of the late Mrs J. Davison, had recently passed away, and the speaker paid tribute to the true Christian character which had been evident in all which the deceased lady undertook and the manner in which she had consistently and quietly assisted in carrying on the work of the Church. A very tasty supper was served by the ladies of the Church, and a vote of thanks to them, as well as to the performers and all who had assisted in the organisation of the function, proposed by Eev. Mr Dennis, was carried by acclamation prior to the dispersal of the gatliering;.
