The monthly meeting' of: the lumberley Women's Institute was held on July 4. The president, Mrs i\ r eas, extended a welcome to a large number of members and several visitors. Business having been dealt with the meeting continued in. the form of an "Old English" afternoon, with a "roil call" of old and treasured articles, when several very old articles were exhibited one believed to be two hundred years old. A solo, "An Old English So'ng," rendered by Mrs C. Mellor, was much appreciated. There was also a dress parade of early and mid-Vic-torian costumes by some of the members, who paraded around the room to the tune of 'The Old Spinning Wheel,' causing much merriment to those looking on. Mrs Neas then demonstrated on folk dancing with quite a number taking part. Old photographs of members were numbered and guessing who they were was the competition for the afternoon. Mrs J. Griffith and Miss Mellor .being the winners. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Dittmer Dome, Evans and Field, a pleasant afternoon closing with the singing of, the National Anthem.
