The death occurred yesterday morning at Ohristchureh of Nurse Sibylla Emily Maude, 0.8. E,, one of the bestknown and best loved women in the Christehurch Hospital, and one who devoted her whole life to work among the sick and poor. As a pioneer of district nursing not only in Christehurch, but in the whole of New Zealand, and as a philanthropist, helper and healer, Nurse Maude had long been one of the most outstanding women in the Dominion. From a small beginning she built up an extensive philanthropic organisation, in which at the age of 72 she still took an active and leading part, and it is largely due to her shining example and tireless activity that similar work has been taken up to a greater o'r less extent over the last 40 years in other centres of the Dominion.
