Nucleus of Fund For Cancer Research
GOVERNMENT’S DECISION (By Telegraph—Press Association,'. AUCKLAND, April 17. The decision of the Government to set aside a sum of £SOOO as the nucleus of a fund for cancer research was announced at Hamilton last evening by the Minister for Health (Hon. Sir Alexander Young). The Minister said that the gift had been made as a gesture to mark the forthcoming jubilee of his Majesty the King. An appeal would shortly be made to the public to increase their contributions, to the cost of the work in New Zealand of the Royal Cancer Research Society. The fund, he said, would be devoted to research work in the Dominion.
