BRILLIANT METEORS.

OBSERVED IN N.S.W. AND N.Z. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.0 a.m.) SYDNEY, Saturday. A huge brilliantly-coloured meteor in the shape of a monoplane moved slowly across the sky in an easterly direction last night. It was witnessed by observers as far as 300 miles inland. Dr. C. E. Adams, bon. secretary of the N.Z. Astronomical Society, Wellington, reports that a brilliant meteor, which illuminated the landscape over a wide area, was observed at about 30 minutes after midnight on the night of Wednesday, August 2. Its position is described as being about 2 degrees west of Achernar and falling downward in a A'ertical path. The trail was a brilliant red, edged with blue-white, and the main body or “bead” was comet shaped. The duration of flight was from 3 to 4 seconds, and the length of path nearly 20 degrees.
