Prussian Diet Hands Over to Captain Goering
THEN ADJOURNS SINE DIB BERLIN, May 18. The Prussian Diet passed a Bill plenarily empowering Captain Goering and abolishing nearly all the constitutional stipulations, including a popular referendum to veto the laws. The Council approved the Bill, and Parliament adjourned indefinitely. Unpopular Decrees Promised ONLY NATIONAL-MINDED PERSONS IN STATE JOBS ■ Received Friday, 8.30 p.m. BERLIN, May 19. The Prussian Diet new Enabling Act vests Captain Goering with dictatorial powers until April, 1937. Captain Goering said he would soon issue decrees, some .of which might prove unpopular. Only indisputably national-minded persons would be allowed in future to fill official positions.
