TO PICKLE ONIONS.
Silver-skinned onions about the size of marbles give ihe best results. Use distilled vinegar, .Prepare a brine and put the onions into it while it is still hot. Let them remain for two days, then drain them, quite dry. Put into clean, dry jars and cover them witji hot vihegar in which for every quart, has been steeoed loz. each of horseradish (sliced), black pepper, allspice and salt, with or without the additional pinch of mustard seed. To pickle \gajlic, use the same directions.
