METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the .Levin Methodist Sunday School teachers was held on Tuesday evening. The Rev. Wm. Beckett presiding over a good attendance. The secretary, Mr W. Plaster, reported a very successful anniversary, both spiritually and financially, the total income for the Sunday and Tuesday meetings being £2O 10s. The.. preacher (Rev. E. Parsons), the conductor (Mr 11. E. Keys), and' all who assisted were heartily thanked foe their services. The election of officers for 1930 resulted in the re-election of all who held office last year:—Superintendent. Mi J. C. Gardner; secretary and treasurer, Mr Wm. Plaster; organist, Miss Melville; pianist, Miss Meyers; superintendent of primary'department, Mr F. H. Hudson. Teachers are needed for both primary and intermediate classes. The school goes into recess from December 15th to "January 26th. When the school r«-opcns on Sui/day, February 2nd, re is hoped that several, new teachers will be forthcoming. : Regret was expressed at the "illness of Miss Beckett and a letter of sympathy was directed to be sent to her. Thanks were passed to those who, Sunday by Sunday, bring in children from a distance to the Sunday School, viz., Mrs Sorensen, and Messrs T. G. Vincent, R. Roltton, B. Prouse, J. Whiting, H. Walker, P. Meyers and H. Baumber. It was decided to seek the hearty co-epartion of the congregation in making the Sunday School picnic as pronounced a success as it was last time. It will be held on January 22, and Mr Treen was appointed convener, with Messrs J. Oak and W. IJignal and the backing of all the Sunday School teachers.
, A sum of £1 was voted from tho school funds to the distressed family and £1 to the Christmas treats fund of the Hokio and Werarca Boys' Farm. On Sunday, December 15th, the children's offerings in the school will be devoted to the Masterton Orphanage ■Christmas fund.
On Sunday evening, December Bth, £ome of the anniversary hymns will be repeated by special request, and the Rev. Wm. 'Beckett will make his remarks especially appropriate to Sunday School work. It is hoped next year to hold occasional combined meetings of teachers for instruction and inspiration in their great work. The prize* won for regular attendance at the Young Worshippers ' League will be presented on Sunday morning. 22nd December.
