BRITISH NAVAL PERSONNEL.
REDUCTION A GRAVE RISK, London, January. 3. The Daily Telegraph, on a high authority, states that Sir Eric Geddes’s Economy Committee intends*to recommend a reduction in the naval per-souneL'by-35,000 officers and men. The Telegraph declares that, the decision will cause consternation throughout the Dominions in view of the reductions the Admiralty has already made, under constant. Treasury pressure. It states that the present personnel is insufficient to adequately man the; small but effective fleet retainable under (he Washington agreement. A further reduction will expose the country and her seaborne commerce to the gravest risks.
