Mr George pointed out that there were four rep. matches down for the next four Saturdays, besides two big matches on Wednesdays, and he objected to the club fixtures being so much interfered with. The treasurer stated that it looked as though the rep. matches were not a paying proposition., and the Union was in danger of eating up all its finances with so many outside games. ■Not only was travelling a big expense, but the home matches cost more for entertainment, etc.,, than the gate receipts amounted to. He reminded the meeting that a strong protest was made at the annual meeting of the Union against so many rep. matches, and yet there were already more this year than last. The standard of football in the rep. matches, also, had been considerably below that of the club games. Already about £2OO of the Union’s takings has been expend#*. It was decided that the secretary and treasurer should inquire into the finances and ascertain whether rep. matches were a paying proposition or not. INSURANCE FUNDS. •The secretary drew attention to the demand being made on the insurance fund, and inquiry showed that whereas there should have been a revenue of at least £l5O from players and clubs, only £6O, had been received. One team, Wanderers juniors, had not a single member insured, and one of its members had incurred a doctor’s bill which the Union was asked to pay. This, however, was declined. A number of clubs, also, had not yet paid their fees to the funds, and it was decided to write them on the matter. It was decided to point out that players who had not paid insurance tees cannot participate in the insurance benefits. Rovers 111. protested against Tokomaru HI. on the grounds that (tie Iqtter team played two senior players in the match against them. They also wished to have the match awarded to them. It was decided to award the match to the Rovers until such time as the Tokomaru club could prove that their team did not play seniors.
