SHOOTING FATALITY

CHRISTCHURCH, June 7

Patrick Dempsey, aged 19, of 53 Burke street, was fatally injured when shooting in the Itakaia riverbed to-day. His gun accidentally discharged when he slipped in climbing a steep bank. Two companions carried him three miles to the nearest habitation, but Mr Dempsey died before they reached the house. Mr Dempsey was a single -man employed at Green’s bacon factory of whicli his father is manager.
