Two Games Drawn at Napier EXCITING PLAY Soccer enthusiasts had their fill of excitement at Nelson Park, Napier, on Saturday, when the two principal games were drawn, after exciting tussles, and most of the minor games were close. There was not a great deal of surprise at Rangers and Y.M.C.A. finishing up even. Watcrsiders were expected to have an- easy win over United but the latter rose to the occasion and not only staved off defeat but almost secured a victory. RANGERS (2) v. Y.M.C.A. (2). This was the most attractive gauio of the afternoon, and was marked by some bright play by both sides. Clever footwork and smart dodging runs by J. McCallum for Raugers kept Y.M.C.A. busy for a long time, while F. aud J. Clark also played bright Soccer for Rangers, ‘fno Y.M.C.A. defence was good, and they possess a couple of good scoring players in Heath and Rigby. Each of these scored a goal for Y.M.C.A., and J. McCallum and J. Clark were responsible for Rangers’ score. UNITED (1) v. WATEBSIDERS (1). This game aroused unusual interest because of ths determined stand made by United against what was looked upon as easily the superior team. United combined strong defence with some smart attacking play and were not only able to hold atersiders to a one-goal score, but also notched a goal themselves.
