Putorino Group
The Putorino Women’s Institute held a very sucoessful show in the Putorino Hall. Despite the heavy rain, there was a large attendance of visitors. There was a wonderful display of exhibits in all sections, while that of the sewing and handicrafts section was outstanding. Mesdames Ferrier and Bain and Mr A. .1. Anderson acted as judges. A trophy, donated by Mr H. Young for the winner of the points aggregate for the show, was won by Mrs M. A. Bellerby. Messrs J. N. Anderson and Sons’ trophy for the champion dahlia bloom was won by Mr 8. Neill. Winners of trophies for the most points gained in the various sections were as follow:—Cut flowers, Mrs b. Neill; decorative, Mrs R. Lange; vegetables, T. Haliburton; cooking, Mrs Mabey; home produce, Mrs Mabey; sewing and handicrafts, Miss Conway; fruit, Mrs M. A. Bellerby; junior section: girls, Fay Bellerby; boys, Jim Mclntosh.
In the evening, a jolly show dance was held, and a produse sale table. Produce and vegetables not sold were forwarded to the Hawke’s Bay Children’s Homes.
