DANCE & CARD EVENING
Gay Event at Mahora St. James Hall, Mahora, was the scene of much gaiety on Thursday evening, when another dance and card evening was held in aid of the hall improveineut funds. A large number of people gathered in the gaily-decorated hall to dance and play cards, and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Excellent organisation is a feature ol these dauees, and Thursday evening’s function was no exception. A first-class programme of modern and old-time .dances was enjoyed, and the music was played by Gordon Redward’s orchestra. A delicious supper was served by the ladies’ committee and was appreciated by all present. During the latter part of the programme a delightful interlude was given by tiro Te Aroha Maori concert party, whose items were all loudly applauded. The winners of the card-playing were Mrs Gardner and Mrs Dobson. A consolation prize was won by Mrs E, Lowe. A similar evening will be held about the middle of October.
