TAKAPAU NOTES

School Committee Meets From Our Own Correspondent. TAKAPAU, June 25. A meeting of the Takapau School Committee was held on Monday evening, when the following members were present; Alessrs N. Al. Paulsen (chairman), J. A. Grant (lion, secretary), F. H. Hillier, D. McMillan, J. Thomsen and D. Vesty. An apology for absence was received from Air A. Foley. The headmaster’s report for the month, showing a roll number of 164, and an average attendance of 149, was read and received. The attendance had been effected during the month by the wet weather. Air Caughley in his report, took a final opportunity of thanking the chairman and tho members of the committee for the good work they had at all times done in the interests of the school, and for tho cordial cooperation and support ho had had in all things, for tho benefit of the pupils and for tho school as a whole. Accounts for the month amounting to £7 9/1 were passed for payment It was decided to have the trees round the playground trimmed up and topped where necessary. It was decided that a farewell evening be tendered to Air and Mrs JCaughley, on July 10 in the Town Hall, and arrangements for same were left in the hands of Alessrs Paulsen, Grant and Hillier. » Messrs F. H. Hillier and A. Foley were appointed a visiting committee for the month of July.

PLUNKET COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Takapau Plunket Committee was held in the Plunket and rest rooms on Monday- afternoon, Airs N. AL Paulsen, president, presiding over a good attendance of members. A sub-committee was set up to make arrangements for a Plunket fancy dress ball.

A hearty vote of thanks was tendered to Air N. Waldin for cutting the hedges round the grounds. It was decided to contribute to the Waipukurau Plunket branch in connection with the running expenses for the nurse’s car.

Tho matter of finance was discussed, and as to how the Takapau quota could be raised in tho various parts of the district, under the jurisdiction of the sub-branch.
