NAVAL MOVEMENTS
Doings in the Far East HONG HONG, June 22. The northern cruiser Ninghai has arrived in the harbour. The captain stated that they met the rebel vessels outside and instructed them to return to Hong Kong, firing several rounds as a warning. The Ninghai carries a British naval officer, Captain Morse, formerly of the Repulse, now attached to the Chinese Navy, The arrival of additional northern cruisers, the Haichow and Haifung, today lends support to the reports that Nanking intends to blockade Canton in order to effect the release of Admiral Kiang Shi-yuan, previously commanding the Canton squadron, to which the rebel ships belonged, A hundred cadets released from the rebel ships state that they were virtually prisoners while aboard. They are suffering from exhaustion and lack of food.
