Mr. W. Kronk, district storekeeper at the Public Works Department, Napier, has resumed work, being completely recovered from a severe heart attack of six weeks ago.
The Very Rev. Father A, J. Cullen, late rector of St. Patrick’s College, Wellington, who succeeds the Rev. Father Aubry in charge of the Meeance parish, assumed his new duties oa Thursday.
Mr J. Roberts, of Wellington, has withdrawn from the contest for the New Plymouth seat at the General Election. He had been nominated as the official Labour candidate. There i* a probability that Mr W. A. Thomas, a farmer, of Oakura, will become the Labour candidate. —Press Assn.
Mr T. H. McCombs, who has loe* nominated by the national executive of the Labour Party to contest th* Lyttelton by-election has been granted several weeks’ leave of absence from the staff of the Seddon Memorial Technical College, and will leave for th* south early next week.
