MELBOURNE CENTENARY
Accommodation Charges

A recent Auckland newspaper report stated that a resident of that city had ■written to the Centenary Accommodation Bureau, Melbourne, inquiring the terms for board and lodging during the centenary celebrations, and had received a reply that accommodation was at a premium at about £3 3/- a day.
The Australian Trade Commissioner, Mr R. H. Nesbit, has received the following reply to a cable to Melbourne on the question: "Accommodation still available. Applications should be made to the officer in charge of the bureau, 435 Collins street. No foundation whatso ever id the suggestion 'that the daily rate is £3 3/-. For the peak period, that is during tlio visit of the Duke of Gloucester, the highest rate is 35/per day per person.
