MUSIC FESTIVAL

Demonstration Concert Those adjudged best of some 1200 musicians, elocutionists and dancers provided a large audience which almost filled the Hastings Alunicipal Theatre with over three hours of varied and excellent entertainment last evening. The performers, numbering 50, were the winners of the various sections in the. Napier competitions, which have been conducted over Easter and during the past week. The programme consisted of some 50 items and was us varied as it was long. Numbers to suit every taste were included, there being violin, piano and mandolin solos, vocal solos and duets, musical monologues, elocutionary items, both dramatic and humorous, instrumental trios, songs in costume, sketches and dancing. The last-named section comprised national, fancy, operatic, and tap dancing. The artists themselves were one and all of an exceptionally high standard in each particular section, and each one's splendid performance was proof of his or her right to be classed as winner of the section lepresented.
