MARLBOROUGH DROUGHT Members Dramatic Appeal WATER SUPPLIES FAILING (By Telegraph-Press Association.) BLENHEIM, March 20. “These are Marlborough’s darkest ''days,” says Mr. E. F. Healy, M.P., in a dramatic telegram despatched to-day to the Minister of Lands, the Hon. E. A. Ransom and the Minister of Works, the Hon. J. Bitchtner, urging both immediately to visit the province to see for themselves and the Government the effect of the prolonged drought. Mr. Healy says that in Renwick township all water wells have given out and the school is closed for fear of an epidemic. Farmers and others are carting water from the rivers, but the supply there shows signs of failing. Nearly all winter feed has been used up. Mr. Healy appeals to both Ministers to catch the next steamer to discuss irrigation and other urgent milt ters.
