LUXFORD SHIELD COMPETITION. PARK CLUB WINS TROPHY. The final rounds in the Luxford Shield competition among the Hastings district clubs were completed last week and the Park Club are the first holders of the shield. The following are the points gained by the various clubs:— Park .. .. M 109 Hastings 97 Park vale .. 88 West End ». ... 81 Havelock 58 St. Joseph’s 47 A team consisting of the two top women and men players of the clubs in the competition is to meet a team from the Hastings Club at the Hastings courts during the week-end, when a good contest should result. The presentation of the Luxford Shield will take place at a dance next week. Mr R. D. Brown, president of the Hastings Tennis Club, will present the shield, and all tennis enthusiasts are invited to attend. The following will represent the combined, clubs in the match agains* Hastings, commencing at 1.45 p.m.:— J. Vesty and R. Vesty (Park); C. Torr and H. Ribbands (Parkvale); F. Casein and W. Barnes (St. Joseph’s); J Fyfe and T. Cullinane (West End): F. Coates and L. Jones (Havelock): Mrs Vesty and Miss Garnett (Park): Miss Glenny and Miss Jenkins (Parkvale); Mrs Tacon and Miss Clearv (St. Joseph’s); Miss Melrose and Miss Tully (West End); Miss Treneman and Mrs Cornwall (Havelock). The Hastings team will be: Misses McMillan, Budd, Rainbow, Carr, Crichton, Lindsay, Fryer, White, Mcsdames Craven and Rigby, and Messrs P. Watson, H. A. Ross, R. B. Read. D. Sturm, N. Rigby, F. Murray, W. H. Read, K. Lynch, D. Lynch and E. J. I’itzmaurice.
