PUTORINO MEETING. The annual meeting of the Putorino Women’s Institute was held in the Putorino Hall last Thursday, when there was a good attendance of memI bers. In the unavoidable absence of the f president (Mr s Lange) Mrs H. Young j took the chair. i One new member was added to the j roll. A nqte was received from the j president, expressing pleasure in past efforts, and best wishes for the future. The secretary’s annual report gave a summary of the past year’s work, and the treasurer's report was read and adopted. The coming six months’ programme was drawn up. The election of a new committee then took place, Mrs H. Young being elected president. Tho potato competition was won by j Mrs Porter, with Mesdanies Lange and j A. Mac Kay second and third respec- | tivclv. The competition for best article ' from a yard of cretonne was won by Mrs John Foster, whose dainty and i orminioutal work-box was much ad- ' mired. Mrs 11, Young gained second place with a garden hat. and Miss j Ilaliburton third with ;i pretty cushion. ! Afternoon tea, and a half-hour’s i social chat, ngide a pleasant conclusion to a busy afternoon. Tho hostess for the day was Miss Hahhiirton. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
