THE LATE MR. E. MOORE

Impressive Burial Service The funeral of the late Mr Ernest Moore, who was for many years a member of the “Tribune” staff, took place at the Hastings Cemetery yesterday afternoon in the presence of a large number of the deceased’s friends, among whom were the whole of th* staffs of Hawke’s Bav Newspapers, Ltd. Many of the business firm* of the town, and also the Hastings Returned Soldiers’ Association, the Hastings Golf Club, the Parkvale Golf Club and the Hastings Tennis Club, were represented, and sent wreaths as marks of their respect and affection for the deceased. There were also many other wreaths from the deceased’s friend* and from the management and from individual members of the staffs of the “Hawke’s Bay Tribune” and thsv “Hawke’s Bay Herald.”

The pall-bearers, five of whom were returned soldiers, were Messrs W. Oaklev, F. Pharplev, R. T. Dewson. B. M. Kessell, E. A. Murley and E. Melrose, and in respect for the deceased'a rank as an officer in the N.Z.E.F. the coffin was draped with the Union Jack, and boro his military hat and officer’s sword. “The Last Post” was sounded by Mr J. Charters, who also is a returned soldier, and the service, which was particularly impressive, was conducted by Canon C. MortimerJones.
