EXPERIENCED OVER WIDE AREA
Preceded by Long Rumble (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. The Secretary of the General Post Office advises that the following earthquake reports had been received:— Nelson: Prolonged shock of earthquake felt at 5.15 a.m. preceded by a long rumble. No damage is reported. It was felt slightly at Murchison and was more prolonged at Motueka. Tba postmaster at Takaka advises that it was fairly strong. Blenheim: Fairly strong earthquake from north-east to south-west was preceded by a loud rumbling at 5.17 a.m. Its duration was six seconds. No damage is reported. Wanganui: Fairly severe earthquake felt at 5.19 a.m. Started with slight tremor and increased in intensity, causing doors, pictures and electric lights to swing very pronouncedly in i ust to west direction. It then gradi.ally faded away. No damage is reported. The shock lasted from 15 to 20 seconds. Palmerston North: Slight, prolonged, trembling earthquake experienced at 5.18 a.m.
