NAPIER CLUB’S MEETING CALLINAN WINS DECATHLON. RESULTS OF EVENTS. One of the few remaining programmes to be run this season by the Napier Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was staged at McLean Park last night before a. big crowd. The Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay pole vault record was bettered by Callinan in the decathlon. He came home with 10ft. 6in. to his credit, or Gin. better than the previous figure.

The entries in the various sections of the main programme must also have closely bordered upon the record for this season's evening runs, and were closely followed throughout. Decathlon results were as follows:— 120 yards hurdles. —Lee 17sec., Callinan 17 2-ssecs., Bird 19secs.

Javelin throw.—Bird 111 ft., Jane 102 feet, Callinan and Lee did not qualify. Discuss Throw. —Callinan 85ft., Bird 62ft., Jane and Lee failed to qualify. Callinan won the decathlon with 5000.9 points, followed by Bird 4353.4, Lee 3905, Jane 3210.7. In the absence of the donor, Mr W. Corbett, who donated the cup to be presented to the winner, tho presentation was made by Mr N. A. McKenzie, chairman of the Napier Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, who in a short speech congratulated the winner upon his achievement. Results of the general events are shown below;—
