WAIPAWA
From Our Own Correspondent. Although there was a large attendance at the sale of Crown leasehold and freehold properties in the estate of the late William Moulder by Williams and Kettle. Ltd., on Tuesday afternoon, not a single bid was received tor either lot. Several inquiries have, however, since been received for both farms. The first of a series of “500'’ parties organised by the Home and School League proved very popular. The prizes were won by Mrs Adeane and Mrs Furminger. The old-time dance which followed the supper was greatly enjoyed. Mrs Strang presided at the piano. At the monthly meeting of the Waipawa branch of the V ar Relief Association the chairman (Mr Critchley) expressed regret at the impending departure of Mr G. Cooper (who is taking up his residence in Hastings). As a member of the branch Mr Cooper’s advice had, the chairman stated, been of great assistance to the committee. Yesterday afternoon three rinks from the Waipawa Bowling Club paid a visit to the “San” to engage in a match with the patients.
Mr and Mrs W. Prujean have returned from their motor tour of the North Island. Miss K. Wilkie, a former resident of Waipawa, is paying a visit, to the district, renewing old friendships.
