INFRA-RED RAY PHOTOGRAPHY
WONDERFUL POSSIBILITIES. (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 31, 12.5 p.m.) London, Oct. 30. The War Office and the Admiralty are interested in infra-red ray photography, in consequence of which special experiments have been initiated at the physical laboratory at Teddington. New photographic plates to overcome hare and foti give definition as sharp at 20 miles as at 100 yards: If applied in warfare, it is suggested, a smoke screen for a battle fleet would be rendered useless and aircraft would be able to photograph battlefield fortifications while hidden in the clouds. Liners would be able to speed through fog because they would know the position of ships ahead. Also, scientists would be able to search a vaster area of the universe. The discovery may ultimately be the means of deciding the existence of life on the planets. ,
