CYCLONIC STORM

TELEGRAPHS DISORGANISED. LINES DAMAGED NEAR SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BORDER. ■ (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 31, 11.55 a.m.) Sydney, Oct. 31. The Telegraph Department reports that the most serious breakdown for years was caused by a cyclonic storm which damaged sections of the line of both the east and the west railway service and the Telegraph Department in the neighbourhood of the South Australian border. The Eastern Cable Co.’s cable between Adelaide and Western Australia will be used to assist in overcoming the difficulties until the telegraphs are sufficiently restored. Reports from Adelaide state that a disturbance with a spectacular thunderstorm passed over the city on Saturday night. Though the wind had a velocity of not more than 32 miles an hour, a house at 'Torrensville was unroofed by an unusual eddy.
