SUCCESSFUL FURNITURE SALES

H. J. RIDDELL AND CO. The most successful furniture sale held in Hastings for over two years was that conducted by Messrs. H. J. Riddell and Co. on behalf of the estate of the late B. Peddle last Wednesday. There was an exceptionally large attendance of the public, and bidding was extremely keen right through the whole offering. Some of the prices realised were:—Drawing room suite £32 10/-, piano £2B 10/-, carpets £27 10/-, £6 15/- and £5 10/-, couch £l7, Atwater-Kent table model £l9 15/-, Electrolux £6 12/6, small table £3 10/-, fire screen £4, oak table £5 5/-, standard lamp £2, cabinet £5, palmstand £1 2/6, carpet runner £4, rugs £1 15/-, £1 15/-, £1 19/-, 18/-, 13/-, seagrass settee £2 4/-, seagrass chair £1 4/-, curtains £1 7/-, £2 1/- and £1 10/-, duchesses £3 12/6 and £3 10/-, tallboy £3 17/6, bedsteads £3 and £2 2/6, trays £2 1/-, 14/-, 3 chairs at 17/-, garden hose £1 5/-, vases 15/- and 12/-, upholstered chair £3 5/-, whilst a good selection of books, crockery and sundries all brought extreme rates Messrs. H. J. Riddell and Co. also report having held another successful sale in Hicks’ street on Thursday on account of Mr. R. W. Anderson. Some of the prices obtained were: One cow £B, 1 do. £7 15/-, duchesses £4 15/-, do/ £2 10/-, commode £1 13/6, table £2 15/-, dining chairs 10/-, piano £6, single bedsteads £1 5/6 and £1 3/-, sewing machine £6. Perfection stove £1 8/-, linoleum £1 11/6, clock 18/-, garden hose £1 10/-, lawn mower £1 15/-, K chairs at 4/6, and 6/3, canary 16/-, el. iron 18/6, whilst crockery, kitchen utensils and all sundries sold well.
