A COMMON CURRENCY

A common currency acceptable at par throughout the Empire was advocated by General A. D. Mcßae, a senator. An Imperial bank would control the currency, backed by Britain’s gold reserves. Ho was confident that the plan would re-establish British world trade leadership. General Mcßae predicted that the United States will be off the gold standard within a year.
