LET IN THE SUN

A HINT FOR HEALTH. A famous doctor who was a specialist in “T.B. ” cases said once that it is impossible for tho tuberculosis germ to live in the sunlight. It thrives best in the shady corners. What a lesson this is for our whole outlook on living and housekeeping, for the benefits of sunlight are undoubtedly, in many ways, far-rcaching. In Hastings many people still cover their windows heavily with blinds even in winter, for fear of fading the furniture, and fresh air and sunlight arc rigorously excluded, till rooms become so musty that one could almost grow mushrooms in them, and tho sweet breezes never enter. With all the lovely fadeless materials which are made now for curtains, chair covers, and floorings it is sensible, and also economical, to have tho winter sun shine streaming in over the furniture, chasing out the T.B. germs, and filling the other disease bacteria with indignation and fear, for the sun brings health, and fadeless orange, green, blue and yellow furnishing materials stand fast by their owners now and do not blench or bleach.
