1932-33 FINANCES. SMALL RATE REDUCTION. At a special meeting of the Waipukurau Borough Council held to consider the estimates for the year 193233. them were present His Worship the Mayor (Mr R. McLean), Councillors E. J. Turner, W. A. Chambers. R. W. Carpenter, J. McCarthy, ami B. J. McCormick. As approved, the estimates show the expected receipts in the general account to be £2791 15 10, and expenditure, £4325 16/8. The Fire Board levy will be £155 3/-; interest payments £1365 7/6; £77 12/6 sinking funds, and library, books, fuel, etc., £160; the librarian’s salary being shown under the heading of salaries and wages. In the matter of the theatre account it is estimated that the receipts will be £1221 12/4, including £546 from the lease of the building, £B7 other rents, and the balance shop leases. From a refund on stamp duty in respect of loan interest £9O 3/1 will will be obtained, and per medium of a rate of 1 7-100 d £632 8/8, making a total of £1854 3/1. On the expenditure side a balance of £583 11/1 was brought forward as the debit as at March 31st, 1932. Interest charges amount to £lO3B 12/0; sinking fund. £l5O 6,3; caretaker, £52; insurances, £2l 13/9; Fire Brigade attendance £3, and sundries £5, thus making a total of £lB5l 3/1. As far as the aggregate of rates is concerned there will be a decrease of 41-100 d, the general rate being decreased by 43-iOOd (259-100 d street lighting 2-100 d (70-100 d sanitary drainage decrease 6-100 d (240-100 d footpaths 10-100 d (1 51-100 d); water extension 5-100 d (79-100 d the hospital increased by l-100d (1 60-100 d) and | the theatre by 24-IGOd (1 7-lOOd).
