SULLIVAN v. HANNABERRY. PROMISING FIXTURE FOR THURSDAY. One of the New Year resolutions should be “sur jrt local enterprise,” and in this connection the activities of the Hawke’s Bay Boxing Association are deserving of reward. No other association in New Zealand last season considered its patrons to the extent that the Hawke’s Bay body did, nine fixtures being staged. For this year the association has made an etirlv start, and on Thursday night at the Drill Hall. Hastings, the season’s programme opens with a return bout between the two imnorta tions, Bill Sullivan and Yank Hannaberry. Both are in excellent condition and anxious to give of their best. For weeks nast thrv have indulged assiduously in training operations, and now have attained the pink of condition. The introduction of the 15 twominute rounds will brighten up the pro ceedings considerably, and as both are accustomed to this in Australia thorn should be little time lost in each round. A decidedly interesting and promising amateur programme has been ar-
ranged as a preliininaiy to ttic pro. fight. Of special interest is the match of Hogg (Napier) and Forward (Canterbury). Both are well-known representatives of their respective districts, having successfully taken part at New Zealand championship tourneys. The lesser lights among the amateurs are well-known for their pep and fighting spirit so that in all patrons will be liberally rewarded for their payment of the unusually modest charge at the door.
