With the temperature over a century, South Australia tackled an uphill fight valiantly, but their hopes vanished. Richardson made a sound 61 and Nitschke 44. Both were run out. The decision against Nitschke was questioned and the umpire was hooted. Richardson was uncomfortable with an injured hand. Lonergan was the mainstay of the South Australian side, giving a fi ne display of leg strokes. His innings lasted 194 minutes and he hit ten fours. Vincent had a perfect length and was tu-eless. Bradman has scored 1000 runs in first class cricket this season, which is the fourth year in succession that he has recorded this achievement. His century to-day is the 37th in his career.
