EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

DEPUTATION LEAVES TO INTERVIEW MINISTERS. UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF ALLOCATION. This afternoon a deputation of Hastings and Napier business men left by car for Wellington to interview the Prime Minister (Bt. . Hon. Geo. W. Forbes) and the Minister of Finance (Hon. W. Downie Stewart) in connection with earthquake rehabilitation affairs. The interview with the Ministers will take place at 11 o’clock to-mor-row morning, and the deputation will probably leave Wellington again tomorrow afternoon. Duriug his stay in Wellington, His Worship will interview the Minister of Unemployment (Bt. Hon. J. G. Coates) with a view to seeing what proportion of the £15,000 granted by the Government for extra Christinas relief for the unemployed will be allocated to Hastings. Upon receipt of an answer from the Minister, he will wire the local Unemployment Committee so that the necessary arrangements can be made at once.
