ANNUAL COMPETITION. MRS H. M. CAMPBELL’S CHALLENGE CUP. The Hawke’s Bay Central Gun Club held its annual competition on Saturday for a challenge cup presented by Mrs H. M. Campbell. There was a fair number of shootists present. The southerly wind made the birds very erratic, and taking this into consideration, the scores put up were of a very high standard. The cup match resulted in a tie between J. Mills and E. M. Meredith, both of these shooters getting 20 birds out of 21. In the shoot-off J. Mills won on the ninth round, and was heartily applauded ior his consistent shooting. At the conclusion, Mr. H. M. Campbell, M.P., in a few well-chosen words, presented J. Mills with the cup, and also Messrs Tisdall’s trophy to E. Groonie for the best first-barrel performance.
