HAWKE’S BAY ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The fortnightly meeting of the management committee of the Hawke's Bay Cricket Association was held last evening, when Mr R. Chadwick presided over Messrs H. V. Phillips, R. Lott, E. R. Spriggs, C. Elmes and L. G. Fifield. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. T. Foster and C. Louisson. With regard to the forthcoming Hawke Cup match to be played at Hamilton, it was decided to ask the selector, Mr F. F. Cane, to ascertain what players would bo available for the trip at Christmas time. In the event of Rangitikei defeating South Auckland on December 11 and 12, Hawke’s Bay would issue a challenge to the former. A letter was received from the Canterbury Cricket Association confirming the arrangements for the match with Hawke’s Bay at Napier in January. Mr C. S. Thompson is to act as manager of the team. The committee decided to thank Canterbury for their decision to play in Napier. Mr C. Canning wrote tendering his resignation from the management committee. His resignation was accepted with regret. MATCHES FOB SATURDAY. JUNIOR GRADE FIXTURES. The following are the Napier junior grade cricket fixtures for Saturday’s matches:— High School v. Taradale, at High School. Technical 0.8. v. United, Nelson Park No. 9. H. 5.0.8. v. Swailes, Nelson Park No. 8. Scinde v. St. Joseph's, Nelson Park No. 3. THIRD GRADE MATCHES. In view of the fact that the Napier High School commences its vacation on Saturday next, the third grade fixtures will be adjourned until the Saturday following the re-opening of the school. HAWKE CUP MATCH. POVERTY BAY BEAT WAIAPU. Gisborne, Dec. 8. The two days’ Hawke Cup elimination match, Waiapu v. Poverty Bay, was concluded to-day, Poverty Bay winning by 23 runs on the first innings. Waiapu made 181 in the first strike (J. Oates 58, and F. W. Fox 40)). J. Scholium took four wickets for 57 runs. Poverty Bay scored 204 (C. Fraser 41, L. Thompson 38 not out, J. Scholium 34). In the second innings Waiapu made 153 (J. Moody 37, J. Oates 34). J. Scholium took four wickets for 42 runs. Poverty Bay lost two wickets for .125 (J. Scholium 56, M. Bouth 40).
