Manufacturers’ costs were now down to a fairly economic level and selling prices, taking into account the superior quality of British, products, were now reasonably competitive. British manufacturers hold the major part of the home trade, which gives confidence to instal the most modern equipment for cheap production. Moreover, Britain is already on top in some of the dominion markets. where a few years ago she was nt, the bottom. The dominions and I lonies were giving us substantial preferences.
