WOMEN’S CLUB
RECEPTION TO VISITORS. Ou Wednesday afternoon members of the Women s Club entertained four ladies of the party of North Auckland farmers who are touring New Zealand, at afternoon tea in the club rooms. Bowls of autumn leaves and pink flowering gum placed about the room, and the handing round of tea gave a welcoming atmosphere, and a personal welcome was given to each visitor by the club president, Mrs. T. H. Lowry. Mrs. Lovell-Smith (hon. secretary) was present rmd also members of the committee, who assisted to entertain. An enjoyable little programme of music was given which made a pleasant interlude; this was arranged by Mrs. Christie, leader of the Music Circle. Miss Audrey Hobbs played Raff’s “Spinning Wheel” and “Handkerchief Dance,” by Percy Grainger: Mrs. Budd sang “Here’s a Health” and the Y'Maori War Song,” accompanied by Mrs, Christie; Mrs. Tressider (Crownthorpe) and “Damon” and “The Waters of Minnetonka.” All the items were very pleasingly rendered. The guess of honour were Mrs. Kay, Mrs. Mcßae, and Misses Evans and Wilson, all from Kaitia and Whangarei. Mrs. Talbot, wife of the local president of the Fanners’ Union; Mrs. Riggir, president of the 'Women's Division, and Mrs. J. H. Joll, hon. secretary Women's Division, were also present.
