NAPIER PARK MEETING LYN DHU AGAIN. WINTER OATS TO BERNERA. The Napier Park Racing Club’s Winter Meeting was continued at Greenmeadows to-day in beautiful weather, The course was in excellent condition, and there was a large attendance of the public The officials of the club are to be complimented on the arrangements, which enabled the day’s racing to be run without a hitch. Musical selections by means of loud speakers were greatly appreciated by the public. The following are the results up to going to press:— WAIOHIKI HACK HURDLES. Of 125 sovs.; 1) miles. 1 Mr. 0. F. Vallance’s br.g. Lyn Dhu, by Kilbroney — Black Lake 4yrs. (A. McDonald) 10.13 i 1 4 Mr. R. Bly’s ch.g. High Society, 4yrs. (C. Stratton), 9.4 .... 2 3 Mr. M. Keenan’s ch.g. Deluge, aged (A. Jenkins), 11.2 3 (Winner trained by Mrs A. McDonald, Awapuni). • Also started: 2 Lin Arlington 9.7, 5 Masher 9.0. High Society was first away to lead over the first jump from Deluge, Masher. Lin Arlington and Lyn Dhu. Passing the stand Lin Arlington went to the front, but going down the back the favourite began to make a move. Going across the top Masher also moved up, the order at the four-fur-longs post being Lyn Dhu, Lin Arlington. Masher and High Society. After covering another furlong Masher 'had charge of the field. Rounding the bend for home the favourite led from the bunch but at the last jump he was challenged by High Society and Deluge, In the run home McDonald rode a great race to land the favourite a winner by two lengths, Deluge being half a length away third. Time, 2.44 2-5. Masher was fourth. GREENMEADOWS HACK. Of 100 sovs.: five furlongs. 2 Mrs. A. Gilmore’s b.g. Taranto, by King Mark—Martina, aged (M. Gilmour), 10.3 1 3 Mr. J. Boyd’s br.g. Arrowhead, 3yrs. (11. Goldfinch), 9.2 2 1 Mr. C. F. Vallance’s br.f. Blue Paper. 3yrs. (A. McDonald) U.O 3 Also started: 4 Arrowzone 9.0, Rigoletto 9.0, 6 Lady Spy 9.0, 7 Gold Ruler 9.0. At the rise of the tape Blue Paper and Arrowzone hopped out from Taranto, Gold Ruler and Lady S Coming to the home bend Blue and Arrowzone were together, being joined at the turn by Taranto. A great race down the straight followed with Arrowhead coming through to challenge the leaders. Over the last 200 yards Taranto came away with a sudden burst to win by a length and a half, Arrowhead being threeouarters of a length in front of the favourite. Time, 1.2. Lady Sny and Arrowzone were the next to finish. LADIES’ HANDICAP. Of 100 sovs.; If mile. 6 Miss M. Campbell’s ch.g. Aston, by Landgrave—Bridleway, 6 yrs. (Mr. Dodds) 11.7 1 5 Miss Ormond’s b.g. Grattus, 3yrs. (Mr. Ormond), 11.13 ... 2 2 Mrs. Cecil Louisson’s b.g. Rory Mor. syrs. (Mr. Morris), 12.0 3 Also started: 7 Break O’ Day 11.9, 9 All Marimba 11.4, 4 Whakane 11.1, 1 Mirabiliary 10.12, 3 Corneioff 10.9 3 Blacksmith 10.7, 6 Barracouta 10.7, 8 Highwayman 10.7, 10 Tamworth 10.7. The field got nicely away, Aston being first to show out from Grattus, Whakaue and Blacksmith, with the favourite tailing the field. Going into the back stretch the order was the same, with the exception that Rory Mor and Highwayman had moved up. At the four-furlongs post Aston, Whakaue, Grattus and Rory Mor were well bunched. At the end of the next furiong the favourite made a good run, but the two outsiders still had charge. Coming down the straight Rory Mor and ITreak o’ Day both challenged the leaders, but Aston prevailed by a nose, with a head between second and third. Time, 2.11 4-5. Mirabiliary was fourth. WINTER OATS. Of 130 sovs.; seven furlongs. 4 Mr J. S. McLeod’s b.g. Bernera, by Lord Quex—Perplexity, 4 yrs. (H. Goldfinch) 9.0 1 ■ 5 Mr. F. C. F. McKay’s ch.g. Royal Damon, aged (H. Wiggins), 9.13 2 1 Mr. J. M. Reedy’s br.g. Bold Front, 6yrs. (N. Jarvis), 10.6 3 Also started: 6 Queen’s Choice 10.4, 10 Mountain Heath 9.9 3 Goblin Market 9.6, 7 Paiko 9.5, 2 Moutoa Treasury 9.3, 8 Potoaform 9.2. 9 Shortly 9.0, 11 Te Awha 9.0. The field got away well, Paiko, Moutoa Treasury, Queen’s Choice and Bernera being first to show out. At the end of the first furlong, Bernera had charge. Another furlong saw Queen’s Choice in second position from Shortly, Moutoa Treasury and Goblin Market. Across the top Queen’s Choice had gone to the front from Goblin Market, Moutoa Treasury and Bernera. Queen’s Choice led the field into the straight, Royal Damon being now second from Bernera, Goblin Market and Shortly. The race down the straight was most exciting, the positions changing quickly, but Bernera, who came through fast, managed to win from Royal Damon by a head, Bold Front being a neck away third. The County Racing Club held its Winter Meeting to-day. The weather is glorious, the track good, and the attendance fair. Results:— Hinds Hurdles.—l Lancer (D. O’Connor) 1,2 Heisler 2, 6 Oriflamb 3. All started. Won by two lengths two lengths between second ami third. Time, 2.48 3-5. Moreton Handicap.—2 Giggleswick (D. O'Connor) 1, 1 Fortalice 2, 5 Garvary 3. All started ; W<m by a head , three lengths between second J and third. Time, 1.15.
