CASEY DEFEATS MCDONALD. THE HARDER PUNCH WINS. Palmerston N., August 8. In the presence of 1600 people, Harry Casey, middleweight champion of New Zealand, last evening defeated Lachie McDonald, middleweight champion of Australia, on points in a 15-round professional bout for a purse of £l5O. The title was not at stake, owing to McDonald not having fulfilled the three months residential qualifications. Casey was superior from the eleventh round, although McDonald finished stronger. Casey was very fit and had a hard punch. McDonald had not the same sting in his punch, but he got home often.
