TIMARU-CHRISTCHUBCH RACE. NO FUNDS FOR PRIZES. Christchurch, Aug. 8. Donations for the Timaru-Christ-church road race are so few this year that, unless there is an improvement in the position at any early date, it will be necessary considerably to reduce the prize-money if the race is to be run at all. It was agreed by the centre to-night that clubs be asked to, make a levy of Is a member in order to augment the prize-list. The question of a four days race from Christchurch to Dunedin and back, to revive cycling throughout the South Island was referred to a conference to be held at Timaru in October.
