COUZINET’S ’PLANE CRASHES. MECHANIC KILLED. [Australian Press Assn.— United Service.) (Received 9, 11 a.m.) Paris, August 8. During the final trial preliminary to a trans-Atlantic flight, Couzinet’s monoplane crashed and the mechanic was killed. The famous Drouchin was critically injured and two others were also injured. MAJOR DEL PRETO’S INJURIES (Received 9, 1.20 p.lll.) Rio de Janeiro. August 8. Major de Preto, the Rome-to Brasil flier, may lose both his legs as a result of the crash in which lie und Captain Ferrarin were injured. An overnight cable stated: The trans-Atlantic aviators Ferrarin and del Prete crashed during a test Hight nt Rio de Janeiro. Ferrarin’s ribs were fractured and he is suffering from internal haemorrhage. Del Prete’s leg was fractured and he was internally injured. An accompanying mechanic was also seriously injured.
