HAVELOCK NORTH.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Havelock North Women’s Institute took place yesterday afternoon, some 80 members being present Mrs Turner-Williams, the vicepresident, presided. Two new mem besr were enrolled. After the usual business had been dealt with, an excellent musical programme, arranged by Mrs Blair, was given, which was greatly appreciated. The folowing items were rendered :- Violin solo. Miss Fox ; Songs, Mrs MacDuff-Boyd; Recitation, Miss Bridgman; Duet, Misses Christie and Symonds. The accompanists were Mesdames Blair and Christie. An interesting demonstration of ropestool making was given by Mrs Mintoft, which excited much interest among the members. A competition “Household Ommodities,” was then held, two members guessing 14 out of 24 correctly. The singing of the National Anthem brought to a close a very enjoyable afternoon. The second company of the Havelock North Girl Guides celebrated their birthday party and “Flying Up” anniversary in the Village Hall this afternoon. The monthly meeting of the Havelock North districh school committee will be held this evening in the schoolroom.
