Mi's Knapp was convicted to-day in the first degree of grand lacceny of State census funds. The maximum penalty is ten years' imprisonment. Sentence will probably be imposed next week The most serious charges of malfeasance while in office made against a woman since power to hold office was granted to women in America, was lodged against Mr s Florence Knapp, dean of the College of Home Economics, at Syracuse University. The New York Commissioner alleged the illegal disbursement of 118,000 dollars and the waste of nearly 80,000 dollars in her administration of census funds. The charges include nepotism, and the giving away of State funds, which were ultimately traced back as in her possession.
