“AMERICANISATION”
U.S. TEACHERS FOR AUGUST. SCIENCE DELEGATE’S FEARS. Hobart, Jan. 21. “There is danger that If we introdue a number of forceful American teachers into the Commonwealth, we will take a step towards the Americanisation of Australia,’’ said Mr Max Henry, at a meeting of the general council, which ocneludcd the Science Congress here yesterday. The'matter arose during consideration of a recommendation from tfio education section affirming the desirability of an interchange of teacher.-', limited in tho first place to the staffs of teachers’ colleages, between Aus tralia, U.S.A, and Japan, in co-op-eration with the Carnegie endowment for international peace. Mr Henry preferred that the exchange of teachers should be with Great Britain or any other British Dominion. Tho recommendation was adopted by council on a majority vote.
